‘THANKS FOR GIVING’ HOLIDAY FOOD BASKET CAMPAIGN: A TRADITION OF SHARING AND CARING

What started out as a small effort has quickly grown into an annual Thanksgiving tradition for members & affiliates of the Fairmont Board of REALTORS®. “A few years ago the Board was looking for a way to give back to the local communities we all live and work in. We knew immediately from the response to that first event, it was going to be something we would continue doing. Ever since, it’s been a Thanksgiving tradition of sharing and caring,” said Campaign Committee Chair, Gary McGlumphy. “Our Members and Affiliates all work together to collect and distribute dozens of Thanksgiving themed baskets, each filled with non-perishable food items and a gift card provided by FBOR, for the purchase of a holiday turkey as well as other staples not included in the baskets,” added McGlumphy. “While we know we can’t provide a basket to everyone who may need one, our members and affiliates have truly stepped up and made this tradition something special,” says FBOR President, Terry Brake. “Over the years we’ve been able to provide food for hundreds of our friends and neighbors here in our own community who may need a helping hand— and have helped ensure each basket recipient will have the items needed to not only prepare a hearty thanksgiving meal, but hopefully help them stretch their already limited food budgets during the holiday.” This year’s event is no different. The Board and its Affiliates collected and will be distributing more than (3) three dozen baskets. Baskets not already designated for specific recipients will be distributed to local non-profit organizations throughout the area, where they will then be disbursed to deserving recipients.
