Friends,

As a Member or Affiliate, you already know, FAIRMONT BOARD OF REALTORS® is always willing to give back to the many communities we serve.  Regardless of the event, or  the need— our Brokers, Agents, Appraisers & Affiliates step forward and give generously of their time, talent and financial support.  We answer the call & make it happen!  I’m proud to be a part of such a caring organization.  An organization, that leads by example and sets the pace.  After seeing the response from our Members and Affiliates following the historic and devastating flooding that ravaged the southern part of West Virginia on June 23rd; I'm even more proud.

Even though many of you had already made commitments to support other organizations & various other flood relief efforts, when asked to support the FBOR/WVAR Flood Relief campaign there was no hesitation.  We not only ‘answered the call” we yet again surpassed expectations.  That being said, on behalf of FBOR; I want to take this moment to personally thank each of you for your help and continued support.  I also wanted to take a moment to recognize some of our group’s efforts.

First, FBOR was able to present $2500 to WVMAW (WV Ministry of Advocacy and Work camps) a faith-based organization directly involved & on-the-ground providing relief services in the affected areas in southern WV. That donation was motioned & approved at our Board Luncheon on July 6th.  FBOR also received monetary donations from several Broker members including, but not limited to; a $200 donation from Richard Toothman, Toothman Realty and a $200 donation from Carol Oliver, Picket Fences Realty.  Fairmont Federal Credit Union, an Affiliate Member, made a corporate donation of $2500 and their employees themselves provided another monetary donation totaling $702.50.   Floyd Real Estate served as FBOR’s local drop-off collection site & provided many relief supplies themselves, which were included on the Regional Truck (loaded with approx $17,000 worth of supplies/gift cards etc collected throughout our region) Those supplies were delivered to Clay County, another hard-hit area.  Several other individual REALTOR® members made monetary or supply contributions to our effort as well.

Secondly, I also know many more of you stepped forward and participated individually or as part of another organization, never expecting or wishing to be recognized publicly.  I will honor those wishes for privacy here, but please know— your generosity is most certainly welcomed, recognized & appreciated. Because the need is ongoing— if you’re still interested in making a donation to the flood relief effort (individually or as a group) please do so by making your check(s) payable to WV REALTOR RELIEF FUND and mail it to me at Picket Fences Realty (531 Fairmont Avenue, Fairmont WV 26554) and I will be sure to forward them directly to WVAR in Charleston, where the funds will be disbursed to the affected areas.

Again, thank you for your personal and group efforts!   YOU ARE AMAZING!

All the best,

Tim Toothman, President
