ANNUAL THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE TRADITION CONTINUES TO GROW

Every November, Members and Affiliates of the FAIRMONT BOARD OF REALTORS® renew one of their long standing traditions-- the Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive.

"Members and Affiliates join together each year to collect and distribute Thanksgiving Food Baskets filled with nonperishable food items & everything needed (and then some) to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving meal.  Each basket also included a gift card that enabled recipients to get a Ham or Turkey from a local grocery store" says 2016 FBOR President, Tim Toothman.

"I can't think of a better way to kick-off the holiday season than giving back to the many communities we all live and work in. It is also an opportunity for us to help provide a holiday meal for those in our community, who may need some extra support at this time of the year." Toothman states.

"Because of the generous support and participation of our Brokers, Members and Affiliates, this annual food drive has become one of our organization's signature events & the tradition continues to grow." Each year, participating Real Estate Offices, Members and Affiliates become more creative in decorating their food boxes." Toothman says.

After collecting the items and building individual food boxes, some of them are distributed directly to families and individuals by each Real Estate Office or Affiliate Members who they know who may need support.  The remaining baskets that have not already been designated for distribution are then donated to local organizations who in-turn helps distribute them throughout the community.  This year's partner, The Connecting Link in Fairmont.

All together, the 2016 Food Drive was a huge success.  A total of 46 boxes for families and individuals were distributed.   With everyone's help and participation the 2017 event will be even larger!
